Lamar Community College hosted a Career Expo at the Wellness Center.  The event was a huge success bringing over 300 students and 70 vendors to the LCC campus. The event was a success due to the help of student and staff volunteers as well as the vendors from the community. read more…



Electrical Training System Generates Questions from Students

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe Renewable Energy Technologies Program displayed an electrical training system at the career fair on February 13th. The training system teaches students about different types of electrical circuits, modules and motors that are used for instruction for the Associate of Applied Science Degree in Renewable Energy Technologies.  The students in attendance asked questions about the electrical training system and also wanted to know about career opportunities “how much money will I make” and “how long will it take for me to get my degree”.  The students learned that wind turbine technicians are employed worldwide and that starting salaries can be as high as $50,000. The Renewable Energy Technologies Program has eight various electrical training systems that are used for instruction.

January 25th marked the first of two All Campus Conversation Days for Lamar Community College. This is a chance for all faculty and staff to discuss previous set goals and for each department to intermingle. Speaker for the event was former President Dr. Linda Bowman whose inspirational presentation dealt with setting goals and accomplishing those goals.
