Phi Theta Kappa Logo 1 (2)(Lamar, Colorado; April 23, 2013) Every year, each two-year college in the U.S. may nominate two students for the All-USA Academic Team, which is sponsored by USA Today, Coca-Cola, and Phi Theta Kappa.  This year, Sarah Bradley, former president of Lamar Community College’s Beta Eta Gamma chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, was named to the All-Colorado Team.

Originally from Washington, Sarah Bradley has found her home in Lamar for the past two years. Since she was a little girl watching the neighbors’ horses across the street, Sarah wanted to learn to train horses. Sarah plans to graduate from LCC this spring with an Associate of Applied Science in Horse Training & Management. After graduation Sarah would like to continue her education. When she isn’t working with horses, Sarah can be found spending time with her daughter, walking her dog, reading, baking, or cooking. LCC Faculty member David Northrup stated, “this is a singular honor for an LCC student, and Sarah was very deserving of this honor.”

The team was honored at a luncheon in Denver on March 13, 2013.  It was attended by community college presidents, Colorado legislators, the Colorado Community College System president and officers, honor society advisors, family, and friends.  The keynote address was given by Denver Mayor, Michael B. Hancock. He spoke about achieving success by desiring it with the same intensity your body yearns to breathe.  The luncheon was presented by the Foundation for Colorado Community Colleges.
